Objective: Lead the sustainability agenda of HCCB through design thinking across the business operations to promote resource, material, and energy efficiency. Set a unified CSR purpose, putting in place uniform standards and governance, encourage cross fertilisation of ideas, build team capability, and strengthen the social license to operate. The incumbent sets data collection criteria on aligned sustainability goals, including material utilization, plant, and distribution efficiency. The person identifies relevant national civil society partners (incl. NGOs) and helps strike partnerships with state governments and academia in the areas of water replenishment, climate protection and forestry, economic empowerment, health, sanitation and livelihoods, sustainable agriculture, and other relevant programs. The job works closely with Supply Chain and Procurement to determine roadmap and implementation strategy to meet the company’s goals on World Without Waste. This role also advocates the company’s position on sustainability including plastic, with internal and external stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:

•    Lead the sustainability agenda. Promote resource, material, energy efficiency
•    Strengthen the company’s social license to operate
•    Work with Policy makers and third parties to make the case for positive change
•    Set data collection criteria, measurement metrices, budgets, compliance and governance for CSR and sustainability programs 
•    Develop national partnerships for monetary resources, strengthening compliance and speeding-up execution – both internal and external - in the areas of water replenishment, climate protection and forestry, economic empowerment, health, sanitation and livelihoods, sustainable agriculture, and other relevant programs
•    Efficient allocation of resources to the respective CSR programs
•    Deep connects with stakeholders – Govt, Industry, academia, non-profits, corporates – to raise additional resources for the company’s own programs 
•    Ability to market the company and the value it brings to the local communities 
•    Ensure that the company accomplishes all its goals on water replenishment, World Without Waste, Economic Empowerment, Climate protection etc.
•    Strong governance, reporting and compliance – HCCB being a very large manufacturing company, has to comply with multiple national and state laws and regulations
•    Ability to organize different teams (internally and externally) around shared goals. Ability to handle ambiguity that sometimes comes from working cross-functionally
•    Act as an advisor, counsellor to the senior management of the company on public affairs and community issues

Job Requirements: 

Qualifications: Post Graduate degree from a reputed Institution 

Experience: 18-20 years in the field of Public Policy, Public Affairs, Advocacy, Political campaigning, governance, or administration

Functional Skills: 

•    Knowledge of compliance, governance and frameworks on CSR and sustainability 
•    Ability to work with Non-profits, for-profits, policy makers and third parties to make the case for positive change
•    Strong relationships with NGOs, civil society, public policy, and CSR experts 
•    Knowledge of issues and trends in the manufacturing sector and the broader social, economic, political, and environmental landscape
•    Knowledge of crisis and issues management
•    Strategic thinking and effective networking and influencing skills 
•    Ability to handle ambiguity that comes with working in cross functional teams 
•    Excellent communication skills, and ability to attend sensitively to various stakeholder issues
•    Fluent in speaking, reading, writing in English and local languages
